Plain curd, chaas or raita with lunch is easy, familiar and filling. Here is what it can do for you, and what it can't.
Part of the “Small changes, big results” series.

Add one small bowl of plain curd, a glass of chaas, or a bowl of raita to your lunch.
That's it. You don't have to remove anything from your plate.
Curd gives you protein, and protein helps meals feel more filling. A filling lunch can mean fewer cravings by 4 pm, and steadier energy through the afternoon.
Curd also adds a little cool, creamy comfort to a plate of dal, rice and roti. Meals you enjoy are meals you keep eating.
Here is what the research says, and it is a modest story. A review of studies found that people who eat more yoghurt tend to have lower body weight and body fat. But that is an association, not proof that yoghurt causes it. The small trials we have are short and give mixed results.
So think of curd as a helpful add-on, not a fat-loss trick:

Imagine Sneha, 26. She often skips the sabzi and fills up on rice, then gets hungry by 4 pm. She adds a bowl of plain curd and cucumber raita. Over a few weeks she finds she can wait until her evening snack without reaching for biscuits.
That is how small changes become big results.
Think of it as the first domino. It is not a cure for PCOS.
